My friends,
Firstly, I apologize for not getting in touch with you, and all Japanese
Heartbreaker fans earlier after the earthquake and tsunami.
I was scheduled to come to Japan with The Stax Revue with Steve Cropper,
and Donald (Duck) Dunn early May, and wanted to surprise you with some
good news, and express my condolences personally. It has all been up in
the air until today when it was confirmed that the tour will be delayed.
I am so disappointed, I know how the Japanese people must ache for a moment
of escape from the tragedy that has struck their country. And I wanted
to be there with you with all my heart to take people away from their troubles
for an hour or two a night.
Know that I am praying for all Japanese people, those that I know personally,
those that have been audiences, and those I have worked with at Kanda Shokai
and Pearl over the years, and all Japanese musicians I have worked with.
Please stay in touch, I look forward to coming to see you all as soon as
something comes up for me to do.

まず、地震と津波が起きた直後に、みなさん そして 日本のHeartbreakersファンのみなさんに連絡が取れなかったことをお詫びします。
私は、Steve Cropper、Donald (Duck) Dunn とともに The Stax Revue で 5月に来日する予定で、みなさんを良いニュースで驚かせるとともに、個人的にお見舞いの気持ちを伝えようと思っていました。来日は今日まで公表されていましたが、ツアーの延期が確定してしまいました。
私はとてもがっかりしています。日本で起きた悲劇に対して、日本のみなさんがそこからの息抜きを求めていることを知っています。一晩のうち1〜2時間、人々を苦悩から解放するために、私は、みなさんのところに行きたいと心から思っていました。
日本のみなさんのために、私が祈っていることを知って下さい。個人的に知っているみなさん、観客のみなさん、そして長年一緒に働いてきた神田商会とパール楽器のみなさん、一緒に演奏した日本のミュージシャンのために。
これからも連絡を取り合いましょう。そして、私が出来ることが登場したそのときに、みなさんにお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。
